- Although in a lovely quiet spot, please do not expect total privacy and seclusion all the time at Priory Cottage, as it is adjoining another property ‘The Stables’, so you will have a close neighbour if it’s occupied. Fishermen also have access on the River Coquet, which is immediately adjacent to the cottage. Priory Cottage is situated on a working estate, so there are people tending sheep or working in the woods on a regular basis.
- The Priory is managed by English Heritage and is open to the general public from 1st April to 30th October, from Wednesdays to Sundays only. Visitors arrive from 10am and the last are admitted at 5.30pm. Our guests have unrestricted access to the grounds of the Priory when it is closed, but an admission is payable to view inside the buildings.
- The owners will also be around sometimes, tending the gardens and have a very friendly dog called ‘Red’ who regularly walks in the wood, so if you have a dog which is particularly sensitive to others, please be aware of this.
- The grounds in the vicinity of the cottage are uneven in places and not suitable for anyone with reduced mobility.
